Fisherman Trail — hike along the cliffs of the Alentejo Atlantic coast, NOMAP author tour
The Fisherman Trail is part of the famous Rota Vicentina, a 226 km path along Portugal's western coast. Carved over centuries by fishermen — between cliffs, dunes and tiny villages.
We walk the most beautiful section with overnights in village guesthouses. The views are some of the best in Europe, October temperatures are ideal for hiking (+20-25°C in the day).
Walking the best sections of the Fisherman Trail: Porto Covo → Vila Nova de Milfontes → Almograve → Zambujeira do Mar → Odeceixe. Overnights in fishing villages, dinners with local seafood. Ocean swims for the brave.
Continuation for those who want more: famous Algarve beaches (Praia da Marinha, Benagil cave), Sagres — Europe's southwestern tip, wine tastings in the Guadiana valley.
April-May and September — optimal. Summer is hot, winter rainy. See: 5-7 day itinerary.
NOMAP 7-day — €1,400-1,900. Includes guesthouses along the trail, baggage transfer, tour leader. Flights and food separate.
